BAD PLANNING:

With a sound that encompasses equal amounts hardcore, skate punk, and pop-punk, Bad Planning is a band that truly does things their own way. The newest recruits of Jump Start Records have been writing together since they were freshmen in high school. Now all these years later, the band is still booking their own shows, playing gigs with some of their favorite bands, and making a name for themselves in the midwest. Bad Planning writes with a sound that runs in the same vein as their fellow Chicago-based influences such as Rise Against, Alkaline Trio, and The Lawrence Arms. In 2019 they released “Splitting Hairs” alongside Chicago band A Semester Abroad, bringing on a heavier side with singles “Be Brave” and “Actors”. The four-piece, consisting of Alex Crook, Jack Coombs, Kevin Levonyak and Laurence Bactat, teamed up with Jump Start Records in May 2021.

WITH PATIENCE:

features three members that have each worked in the punk, metal, hardcore and industrial scenes for decades.

Guitarist and vocalist Chris Wade is best known for his time as the erratic vocalist/guitarist for influential and noisy post-punk, math-core band hose.got.cable from Richmond, VA., and he helms both the metal/punk band Orlock and the goth/noise duo IUIO with his wife, Ali Wade.

Bassist and vocalist Lance Curran was the anxiety fueled vocalist for Indiana punk band Duck Tape and Industrial Metal band Schmerzen in the mid and late 90s. After moving to Chicago in 2001, he formed the electro-punk band Careful playing bass and vocals. Lance worked in venues across the city for MPshows and booked many shows at the Threadless warehouse where he encouraged off-kilter personalities and rebellious kindness.

Drummer and vocalist Lee Diamond is best known as the drummer for post-hardcore band Alkaloid, the long-running Chicago punk-duo, Douglass Kings and the post-punk Replica Republic. Lee also recorded the band’s EP and earlier single and shoots and makes their videos, with additional assistance and footage from photographer Ali Wade.

“I greatly enjoyed mixing the self-recorded debut of this excellent new Chicago band from some semi-grizzled veterans of the underground. Give it a spin!” – J Robbins, (Jawbox, Magpie Cage Recording Studio, J Robbins Band, etc.)

FFO: Fugazi, Hot Snakes, Quicksand, Shellac

GOLDWAITE (ACOUSTIC):

Friends playing melodic punk in the Chicago Burbs.
